Victims of military helicopter crash buried in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani servicemen killed in a helicopter crash last month were buried on 1 December.
On 30 November, a Mi-17 military helicopter of the State Border Service crashed during training flights at the Garaheybat airfield in the Khizi region, killing 14 people and injuring two others.
The helicopter took off from Sangachal airport at 10:16 and flew to Garaheybat training ground.
The servicemen killed in the accident were given the status of martyrs.
Eleven servicemen killed in the helicopter crash were buried in the Second Alley of Martyrs.
Officials have not yet commented on the cause of the crash, but the SBS said outside interference was ruled out.
The head of the State Border Service, Elchin Guliyev, said that the pilot of the helicopter, Colonel Fuzuli Javadov, had a high level of training and had permission to fly in difficult conditions.
"The helicopter is almost new and was recently repaired," the official added.
The Prosecutor General's Office said that a criminal case has been launched under the article "violation of the rules of flight or flight preparation, which caused the death of two or more people through negligence" and other articles of the Criminal Code. According to the report, the investigation of the criminal case was taken under special control by the Prosecutor General.
