Armenian and US Military Personnel Explore Cooperation in Yerevan Seminar

On January 30, Armenian and US military personnel discussed opportunities to expand interaction during a seminar in Yerevan, the press service of the US Embassy in the Armenian capital reported.

"Opportunities to provide assistance to the Armenian Armed Forces and expand interaction with partners, as well as issues of confronting modern challenges, were discussed with Armenian defense stakeholders," the statement reads.

It is noted that representatives of the US Defense Department's Institute for Security Management took part in the working conference on defense transformation last week.

French and Armenian Military Academies Strengthen Ties with Official Visit

On February 2, representatives from the leadership of the Saint-Cyr Military Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of France conducted a visit to the Military Academy named after Vazgen Sargsyan, under the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, the Press Office of the Armenian Defense Ministry reported

Armen Khachatryan, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Defence and Security of the National Assembly, also attended the meeting.

The guests had the opportunity to tour the academy premises, gaining familiarity with the facilities, available opportunities, and the curriculum. Detailed presentations were made to them regarding the academy's structure, activities, and educational programs. Discussions were held on matters related to the interaction and cooperation between the two academies.

Furthermore, on the same day, in the presence of Armenian Deputy Minister of Defence Arman Sargsyan and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Armenia, Olivier Decotigny, a modernly equipped French classroom was inaugurated at the academy. The symbolic act of cutting the red ribbon was performed jointly by a French cadet studying in Armenia and an Armenian cadet set to pursue studies in France, exemplifying the cooperative ties between the two academies.

Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Defense Minister Meets Turkish Delegation

On January 29, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with the delegation led by Hulusi Akar, a Member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Chairman of the Committee on National Defense of the Parliament, and former Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

Colonel General Hasanov welcomed the guests and expressed satisfaction with seeing his former colleague in Azerbaijan again. The Minister emphasized that the friendly and fraternal relations of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye play an important role in the development of cooperation between the two countries in the military field along with all other fields.

Akar emphasized that it is of special importance that relations between the two countries reached the level of strategic alliance and highlighted the significance of such visits.

Azerbaijan, Serbia Enhance Military Ties with Bilateral Cooperation Plan

On February 1, Representatives of the Defense Ministries of Azerbaijan and Serbia held Bilateral Military Cooperation Talks.

At the meeting held at the International Military Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense, the current situation and development prospects of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia were discussed, as well as a detailed exchange of views on topics of mutual interest was held.

At the end of the meeting, the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan between the Defense Ministries of Azerbaijan and Serbia for 2024 was signed.

Local exercises

On February 2, commando units fulfilled various tasks concerning the beginning of the new training period in the Azerbaijan Army. According to the conditions during the exercises, the headquarters assessed the operational situation, compiled tactical reports, prepared the necessary information, and assigned tasks to the units. The commandos left the points of permanent deployment on alert and conveyed decisions on the fulfillment of tasks to the units. The units, which were brought to the state of combat readiness, professionally fulfilled activities on conducting raids in human settlements, open areas, and other operations.

On February 3, the practical classes held in the troops and military units of the Azerbaijan Army with regard to the new training period are being successfully conducted according to the combat training plan of the current year. The regulations carry out the tasks of preparing military equipment and artillery installations withdrawn from permanent deployment points to assembly areas on alert for combat use at firing positions. The servicemen demonstrated high professionalism in the classes held to maintain the combat readiness of the troops at a high level to ensure stable, uninterrupted, and operative management of the units.
