Azerbaijan Sends Note of Protest to Iran

| News, Politics, Azerbaijan

On December 3, Aykhan Hajizada, the head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, informed that a note of protest was sent to the Embassy of Iran in Azerbaijan to clarify the spread of information about the illegal crossing of Iranian citizens into the territories of Azerbaijan.

"Any foreign visit to the territories of Azerbaijan should be carried out by the rules established within the national legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, namely the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity," Hajizada stressed.

Notably, Ictimai TV, state-owned Azerbaijani Television, stated that for two days now, "Qafqazinfo" has been revealing the facts obtained about the transfer of 14 Iranian citizens to the territories temporarily controlled by Russian peacekeepers. However, the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan continues to remain silent.

"Yesterday, our calls to the embassy went unanswered; Iranian diplomats do not want to talk about the identity of their citizens or the purpose of the secret visit to Azerbaijan. As we have already reported, 12 of the 14 people who have been in Khankendi [Stepanakert in Armenian] since November 24 and have not yet left are from the city of Izeh in the southwest of Iran. I agree that such a coincidence is difficult to believe. In particular, the information about the location of the secret base of the Iranian special services specializing in terrorist subversion in the city of Izeh, the birth dates of these people (mainly between 30 and 40 years old), the secrecy of the trip, and several other points make it possible once again that the conversation is with the employees of the Iranian special services. Confirms," the information added.

"Another interesting point is that despite the long searches of our employees on social networks, the accounts of none of these 14 people were found. Nowadays, it is very rare to have no footprint on social networks. Moreover, we are talking about not one but 14 people. What secret activities are these people doing now that they are away from social networks? Usually, such an approach is characteristic of the military or special services," the state television stated.

"On the other hand, it is also possible that the names in the documents of the group members who came to Khankendi are fakes; this is a common thing for intelligence agencies. For example, it is well known that the names 'Petrov' and 'Boshirov' of the two Russian special services sent to this country to poison Sergei Skripal were fake, as in the case of the high-profile conspiracy that took place in England," the television hinted at Russia.
