Baku Responds to Pashinyan's Proposal
On October 17, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan stated in the publication on Twitter that Armenia must put an end to far-fetched pretexts to evade road/railway connection obligations through the Zangazur Corridor by the tripartite statement signed in November 2020.
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan pointed out that ignoring 20-month discussions and offering three unrealistic options for the checkpoint is not a very good policy.
Earlier, on October 17, Caucasus Watch reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the Armenian government's draft decision to open three checkpoints on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, to provide a connection between eastern Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan had been formally circulated for several months. "The government of Armenia is waiting for a positive reaction from Azerbaijan," he wrote on Twitter.
On the same day, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Leyla Abdullayeva said that if there is an official statement about the views of the Prime Minister of Armenia, it will be presented to the public.
