
EU: "Georgian Authorities Responsible for Saakashvili’s Health"

On December 8, in a statement addressing the deteriorating health of imprisoned ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili, Peter Stano, the Lead Spokesperson for the EU's Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that Georgian authorities are responsible for his health and well-being and have a duty to take all necessary measures for him to receive appropriate medical care.
He emphasized, "EU watches closely the newest disturbing information regarding Mikheil Saakashvili's failing health."
Earlier, Caucasus Watch reported that Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s health has reportedly deteriorated. According to Giorgi Saakashvili, the ex-president's brother, Mikheil Saakashvili's condition had worsened dramatically after the last trial, when he became incapacitated.
