Adygea Court Fines Resident for Sharing Video Criticizing Russia
A court in Adygea fined a local resident, 39-year-old Igor Korotkov, EUR 9,962 under an article about "fakes about the Russian army." The resident was fined because of the video "Ukraine: Putin's Defeat" posted on the WhatsApp group by the Navalny LIVE channel.
Lawyer Irina Babakhanova, representing Korotkov's interests, said that in March 2022, an acquaintance added Korotkov to a pro-war WhatsApp group. Korotkov sent a link to a video from the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel titled "Ukraine: Putin's Defeat."
"My client believes that he spread information that was not knowingly false. He trusts this information, and no one has yet refuted it. Korotkov himself did not ask to be part of that group, an acquaintance added him there," the lawyer added.
