On December 2, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Sweden, according to a statement from EU foreign policy chief Luke Pierre Devin.

He said the meeting was held within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Conference.

On December 1, Bayramov travelled on a working visit to Stockholm where he will attend the OSCE Ministerial Conference session as part of his visit. The minister is also slated to have bilateral discussions, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Former Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Tofig Zulfugarov said, "such meetings consider the activities of the OSCE and adopt relevant documents. The OSCE Minsk Group has long been mediating in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Both sides have their own views on this. Official Baku believes that this may be related to humanitarian issues."

The Azerbaijani and Armenian ministers last met in Paris on November 10, 2021, on the side lines of the UNESCO General Conference.

The sides exchanged views on the normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, taking into account the new realities that emerged in the region following the 44-day war in 2020.

The meeting was also attended by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Andrew Schaefer from the USA, Brice Roquefeuil from France and Igor Khovaev from Russia, as well as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.

A Moscow-brokered ceasefire deal that Baku and Yerevan signed on November 10, 2020, brought an end to six weeks of fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani army declared a victory against the Armenian troops.

At a meeting with the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, FM Mirzoyan brings up the topic of Armenian POWs

Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan met with Andreas Norlén, Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag (Parliament), on the periphery of his business visit to Stockholm on December 1, according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Andreas Norlén discussed opportunities for further growing Armenia-Sweden relations by boosting mutually beneficial bilateral and multilateral collaboration. FM Mirzoyan praised Sweden's support for Armenia's ongoing democratic reforms, as well as its anti-corruption efforts and assistance at the legislative level.

FM Mirzoyan and Speaker Norlén discussed how to effectively execute the Comprehensive and Enhanced Cooperation Agreement in the framework of developing the Armenia-EU partnership.

Minister Mirzoyan discussed the current situation in Armenia, which has been exacerbated by the recent “invasion of Azerbaijani armed troops into Armenian sovereign territory”. In the framework of de-escalation and stability of the situation in the area, he stressed the significance of a correct and responsive reaction by the international community.
