On October 20, Arsen Avagyan, the Armenian Ambassador to Iran, addressed the cooperation between Armenia and Iran across political, economic, and energy sectors.

He stated, "Any transportation communication should be under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the respective country and operate on the principles of equality and reciprocity." Avagyan emphasized the warm relations between Armenia and Iran, which he described as rooted in good neighborliness, and highlighted the importance of strengthening these ties, as outlined in Armenia's four-year government plan for 2021-2026.

Avagyan noted that the presence of Armenian officials at key ceremonies in Iran demonstrates the significance of their relationship. He referred to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which focused on enhancing existing relations and exploring new cooperation opportunities.

Regarding economic collaboration, the Ambassador highlighted ongoing projects, including the construction of the Kajaran-Agarak road by Iranian companies, which is crucial for the North-South transportation route. He expressed optimism that further developments in bilateral relations would yield significant results and stressed the need for increased transportation capacity and improved infrastructure.

Avagyan underscored Armenia's strategic geographical position, suggesting that it serves as a natural bridge for Iran to access the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market. He voiced support for the signing of a free trade agreement between the EAEU and Iran.

When addressing Azerbaijan's claims for a corridor, Avagyan asserted that removing obstacles to transportation and economic infrastructure is vital for regional peace and stability. He emphasized that any transport routes should be under the jurisdiction of the respective countries and reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to ensuring the safe transit of goods and vehicles through its territory.

Avagyan also mentioned the "Crossroads of Peace" project, which aims to enhance regional communication and stability through infrastructure development. He noted that Armenia welcomes support for this initiative from various countries, including Iran.

Regarding the ongoing peace negotiations with Azerbaijan, Avagyan stated that significant agreements have been reached over the past two years and urged the prompt signing of the draft peace treaty and the establishment of diplomatic relations. He also commented on the role of France in the region, expressing that Armenia values constructive involvement from countries like France to promote security and stability.
