| News, Armenia

On 27 June, Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) summed up the results of the 20 June snap parliamentary elections, reaffirming the landslide victory scored by acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party and rejecting opposition demands for annulling the results.

According to the final tallies, Pashinyan’s party received 53.91% of the votes, while the “Armenia” bloc led by Robert Kocharyan and the “I have honour” bloc led by Artur Vanetsyan got 21.9% and 5.22% of the vote, respectively. While not clearing the 7% threshold set for blocs to enter parliament, “I have honour” has been allowed to be represented in the next parliament as the force that finished third in the race. The Civil Contract will have 71 seats in the parliament, “Armenia” will have 29 and “I have honour” 7 seats.

The financial reports of the parties who ran in the elections were also made public. According to the reports, the Civil Contract attracted at least 453 million drams ($910,000) in donations and spent 369 million drams on its election campaign. It said most of that money was used for TV and radio ads as well as billboards, booklets, and other campaign materials. Kocharyan’s bloc reported a total of 308 million drams in donations to its election fund and put its campaign expenditures at 244 million drams. “I have honour” claimed to have raised 217 million drams and spent 199 million drams. All three political groups relied heavily on television stations owned by individuals linked to their leaders for airtime.
