Commenting about his plans in a video message on the social network on the eve of October 4, Arshak Karapetyan, the former Chief of Military Intelligence of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces and Ex-Defense Minister of the republic, announced that he would start political activities and create a movement to liberate the country from internal and external enemies.

The former head of the military department said that he intends to create a reliable and safe system of state administration, which will preserve Armenia's statehood and ensure further development of the republic. According to him, citizens will be convinced of the seriousness of his intentions very soon.

Referring to his dismissal, Karapetyan said it happened because he did not accept the ultimatum presented by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and gave the order to open fire in case of violation of Armenia's state border. The former Defense Minister claimed that the tragedy in Nagorno-Karabakh occurred because of cowardice and betrayal of the Armenian authorities who abandoned the Karabakh people to their fate. "I am referring to the betrayal that led to the actual destruction of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army, one of the most important components of the defense of Armenians in general," Karapetyan explained.

According to him, Russian peacekeepers, who were inhumanely shot from the Azerbaijani side (one of them left seven children orphaned), also shared the Armenian people's misfortune. He further expressed confidence that Baku will not stop and will continue its policy to destroy Armenians.

Addressing allies in Russia, Karapetyan said the peacekeeping operation in Nagorno-Karabakh was unsuccessful, but for the sake of victory and the future, the enemy must not be allowed to bring  [our] historical allies to his side. "I urge Russia's leadership to crack down harder on attempts to destroy the Armenian nation and its statehood," Karapetyan emphasized.
