Azerbaijan Establishes Working Group on Humanitarian Issues in Karabakh

On September 23, by the order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, a working group for solving social, humanitarian, economic and infrastructure problems in the Karabakh region was established under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.

The working group operates within the framework of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Centralized Settlement of Problems in the Liberated Territories of Azerbaijan. The members of the working group are the Ministries of Economy, Labor and Social Protection of the Population, Agriculture, Internal Affairs, Health, Science and Education, OJSC "Azerenergy", OJSC "Azerishiq", Production Union "Azerigas", State Agency for Motorways and other relevant institutions.

"From September 20, the following measures were implemented by the working group:

- On September 22, the Ministry of Emergency Situations sent 2 trucks with 40 tons of food and hygiene products and 2 trucks with bread for Armenian residents along the active Aghdam-Asgaran-Khankendi road;
- The Ministry of Emergency Situations set up tent camps for 1000 people in Aghdam, Fuzuli and Kalbajar to provide first aid and food to the Armenian residents. Local police forces, military personnel and civilian workers are providing first aid and appropriate assistance to the Armenian residents;
- At the request of the representatives of the Armenian residents at the meeting held on September 21 in the city of Yevlakh, fuel and lubricants will be provided first, including gardens, emergency medical aid and firefighting services;
- The Lachin-Khankendi road will be opened for the passage of food and daily necessities for use by the personnel of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, as well as for delivery to the civilian population by the peacekeepers;
- The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will facilitate the transportation of food, medicine and baby food via the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khankendi and Lachin-Khankendi routes, as well as the dispatch of additional staff from the organization's Baku and Geneva offices to the Khankendi sub-office;
- Creating the necessary conditions for the evacuation of persons in need of medical assistance to Armenia at the request of the ICRC," the report added.
