Azerbaijan Reports Further Escalation, Use of Drones by Armenia, and One Serviceman Killed

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that on May 12, at 17:15 [local time], the Armenian Armed Forces units in the Sotk direction of the Vardenis region using mortars subjected to fire the Azerbaijan Army’s opposite positions.

On the same day, the ministry stated that on May 11 and 12, the Armenian Armed Forces units in the Basarkechar region used attack UAVs from various directions against several Azerbaijan Army positions in the Kalbajar region. "Air targets were detected by Azerbaijan Army Units in time and neutralized before reaching the target as a result of the use of radio-electronic countermeasures," the report added.

Moreover, on May 13, the ministry informed that on the evening of May 12, as a result of the ongoing provocation being committed by the Armenian armed forces, the Azerbaijan Army's serviceman Garayev Mahammad Mahir was killed.

On the same day, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that on May 12, at around 10:00 AM [local time], one of the two service members who were injured as a result of an ATS attack by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces was discharged from the hospital, the life of the other one is not in danger. 

"Later, on the evening of May 12, the lives of 2 servicemen who were wounded by enemy fire are not in danger," it added.
