Chechnya become leader among Russian regions in terms of cybercrime growth
The number of crimes using bank cards, telephones and special programs in Chechnya has more than doubled in a year.
According to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the increase in cybercrimes in Chechnya amounted to 135%. Growth was also noted in other regions of the North Caucasus, for example, in Adygea (45.8%) and Dagestan (30%).
Last year, Ingushetia was the leader in the growth of telephone frauds, with an increase of 167.5%.
Overall, the Russian growth rate of the number of cybercrimes in 2021 has sharply decreased. At the end of 2021, 517.7 thousand such cases were registered, which is only 1.4% more than in the previous year, while before that their active growth was observed: in 2020 by 73.4% (510.4 thousand cases), and in 2019 by 68.5% (294.4 thousand).
Chechnya and Ingushetia became leaders in the growth of registered crimes in Russia last year.
In June 2021, Chechnya was also the leader in such statistics. For six months from January to May, their frequency in the republic increased by 41%. The head of Chechnya, Kadyrov, has repeatedly called the republic "the safest.”
Five regions of the North Caucasus Federal District entered the top ten in terms of the number of recorded terrorist crimes from January to October 2021. In the first place - Dagestan, in the second - Chechnya.
At the end of last year, the number of registered extremist crimes in Chechnya increased by 100%.
