China hopes for new achievements in Armenian-Chinese relations and is ready to support the development of both bilateral ties and Armenia’s overall progress, stated China’s Chargé d'Affaires (a.i.) in Armenia, Chen Ming, on Tuesday. Speaking at the “China’s Modernization: Armenia-China Relationship” international seminar at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, he expressed optimism about the relationship's future, saying, “We hope the Armenian-Chinese relations have new achievements."

Chen Ming emphasized that the relations between Armenia and China are developing well, and he had previously discussed the trends and potential future developments of the bilateral relationship. He also mentioned the brief conversation between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia, marking the first meeting between the two leaders since 2019. During their discussion, the two sides talked about furthering bilateral ties.

The Chinese diplomat reiterated China’s readiness to support the strengthening of Armenian-Chinese relations and Armenia’s broader development, expressing hope that the seminar would contribute to the growth of these ties.

Armenia and China have significant potential for cooperation in the high-tech sector, according to China’s Chargé d'Affaires (a.i.) in Armenia. Ming highlighted that Armenia increasingly prioritizes developing high technologies, an area where China holds many advantages. “We are also happy to see electric vehicles imported from China in the streets of Yerevan and elsewhere in Armenia,” Ming remarked, noting China’s growing presence in the region. He expressed confidence that the two countries can closely cooperate in high technologies and green economy sectors, with the potential to expand into other areas as well. Ming emphasized that this collaboration could enhance the standard of living for both the Armenian and Chinese peoples and expressed hope that leading Chinese organizations would actively participate in these sectors of cooperation.

He also emphasized China’s position on reopening connection routes in the South Caucasus, saying, “The Chinese side certainly supports the position that there should be an opportunity for opening the connections and peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus.”

Chen Ming expressed hope that the South Caucasus countries would resolve all existing issues and challenges through political dialogue and negotiations. He further highlighted China's interest in the region's economic development, particularly in high technologies and other sectors. “Since we are interested in all of this, we are also ready to provide our support for the peaceful resolution of existing issues in the region,” he concluded.
