COP29: Azerbaijan Sends Official Invitation to Armenia
On July 22, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, announced that Azerbaijan has invited Armenia to the COP29 climate summit.
Hajiyev stated, "COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev has sent a letter of invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. We have sent a formal invitation."
Hajiyev emphasized that extending this invitation demonstrates Azerbaijan's goodwill and inclusive approach despite the lack of official diplomatic relations between the two countries. He noted that COP29 represents a global effort and that the critical negotiations at the summit 'go beyond the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.'
"The time has now come for the Government of Armenia to decide," Hajiyev added.
