Former Armenian President Blames Pashinyan for Karabakh Concession
On December 28, former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan called the accusations against him unfair.
Commenting on Nikol Pashinyan's statements in a recent interview with Public TV, the third president of the republic said: "As always, I saw a lot of lies and manipulations in the speech, but I will clearly emphasize [one] important circumstance: the ruler of Armenia admitted that he sacrificed Nagorno-Karabakh consciously."
According to Sargsyan, Pashinyan confessed that for him, the Nagorno-Karabakh issue was a cudgel over Armenia's head. "At least we all understood his confession. The only correct thing he said was that he deliberately sacrificed Karabakh," Sargsyan added.
Notably, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expressed an opinion earlier this month that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan would not have escalated if the parties had listened to advice and taken necessary steps in due time. Lukashenko stated that Nikol Pashinyan is not to blame for what happened, and he inherited the situation. Lukashenko mentioned that he found himself between Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan and publicly proposed: "We need to resolve what can be resolved today, based on what could have been done. If they didn't do it, they got what they have." Lukashenko asked, "Did Armenia become better? And Azerbaijan is not in an easy situation."
