Serzh Sargsyan Calls Pashinyan to Resign After Recent Clashes Along Armenia-Azerbaijan Border
Against the backdrop of the latest armed incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Serzh Sargsyan, the former President of Armenia, described the policy of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan as disastrous, calling on him to resign.
"Deadly. The only way out is to let this person leave, let him go about his business, let him take the opposition newspaper again, and start writing gossip about this and that. He is not good for anything else," the former head of the republic claimed, referring to Pashinyan's journalistic past. According to Sargsyan, if Pashinyan signs a peace treaty with Azerbaijan under the current conditions, this document will ignore the Armenian interest.
"They go to peace to protect the country, to show that they can ensure the safety of their own citizens, to show that, at least, despite so many failures, an Azerbaijani soldier cannot just enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia and walk around for several days. And who will make peace with such a country?" the leader of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia asked.
He also commented on the statements of the current head of government about the secret letter that Sargsyan wrote in 2016. "Let Pashinyan publish this letter; otherwise, he is a liar, the ex-president retorted," the official concluded.
