| News, Politics, Georgia

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, said in his speech at the ceremonial reception dedicated to Georgia's Independence Day in Berlin that for 33 years, Georgia has gone through a rather difficult history. There were many trials, among them four wars. It was a very difficult path to the development and establishment of statehood, and the support of Georgia’s foreign friends was of particular importance on this path.

According to the Prime Minister, the support of the German state and the German people towards Georgia was very special. More specifically, the Prime Minister said: "Thank you very much for coming to this event, which is dedicated to the state independence of Georgia. We regained independence 33 years ago, in 1991. I remember our generation and our older generation remember the 80s of the last century when Georgians fought to restore state independence. The first large-scale dissident rally was held in 1988, and at that time, no one believed that in just a few years, our dream could come true and Georgia would continue to become an independent state. It is symbolic that today's event is attended by the son of the first president, Mr. Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, I greet him in a special way.

During these 33 years, we have gone through quite a difficult history, there were many trials, among them, there were four wars that we went through in these three decades. It was a very difficult way of developing and establishing statehood, and the support of our friends was of particular importance in this way. It should be noted here that the support of the German state and the German people towards Georgia was very special. Since the 80s, we have felt this support and help from Germany, and after Georgia regained its state independence, we experienced the benefits of this support even more intensely. Since the 90s, Germany has made a special contribution to the development and establishment of Georgian statehood, and I thank the German state, the German people, and our German friends, German guests for this".

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, told journalists at the ceremonial reception dedicated to Georgia's Independence Day in Berlin that after the restoration of independence, Germany has always had a special role in Georgia's development.

According to him, Germany has made special efforts to make Georgia a full-fledged member of the European family. Darchiashvili said: "Germany has always been very actively involved in the development of Georgia. After the restoration of independence, Germany has always played a special role in developing our country, always supporting our territorial integrity and sovereignty. Now, in recent years, Germany has made special efforts to make Georgia a full-fledged member of the European family. We are very pleased with the fact that today in Berlin, with the participation of the Georgian Embassy and the participation of the Prime Minister, we have the opportunity to host our German friends, the Georgian diaspora, at an event celebrating the Independence Day of Georgia. It is symbolic that Germany is a symbol of unification, and we expressed our desire from Berlin to reunify Georgia very soon. There is no alternative to our peace policy, and we will do everything we can to make our country a united and integrated member of the European family very soon. Germany is very deeply familiar with the challenges that our country faces and we are happy about the fact that Germany is one of the main driving forces towards our European integration."
