| News, Economy, North Caucasus

On May 16, Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, the head of Ingushetia, stated that the authorities of Ingushetia managed to completely close the issue of debt under measures of budgetary coercion; since 2019, the government of the [federal] republic has transferred 3.9 billion rubles [EUR 37 million] to the federal budget under these measures.

"We were able to repay our accounts payable in the amount of 5.8 billion rubles [EUR 66 million] by saving our own funds and assistance from the federal center. It was a debt for social payments to the population, housing, and communal services, to the business community under executed state contracts, and much more," he said.

According to Kalimatov, there is also some progress in paying off the republic's debt: considering the 747 million rubles [EUR 8 million] paid in the current year, up to 3.3 billion rubles [EUR 37 million].

"Now the bulk of the remaining debt is 1.9 billion rubles [EUR 21 million]; this debt has been restructured until 2029," the official added. "In parallel, work was carried out to increase the region's own income. The amount of own tax and non-tax revenues last year reached 9 billion rubles [EUR 103 million] - this is a record figure. This is 3 billion [EUR 126 million] more than in 2021. This was achieved thanks to the work to increase the region's own income and save money based on the results of the auctions," the head of the region noted.
