Iran to Give “Toughest Punishment” to Person Who Attacked Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran

On September 13, Ali Salehi, the chief prosecutor of Tehran, said that in the indictment issued against the person who attacked the embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, it was requested to give the most severe punishment to the attacker.

According to the information, a person attacked the embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran with a firearm in late January, as a result, one embassy employee was killed, three people were injured, and the embassy's property was damaged. Salehi said that the court thoroughly investigated the case and accused of murdering an Azerbaijani citizen with a firearm inside the embassy, buying and keeping weapons and ammunition without permission, and violating public order, including an AK-47 machine gun and a pistol.

He added that the case is still open for further investigation on other charges, including causing destruction and intentionally injuring three embassy staff.

Notably, on January 27, there was an armed attack on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran. As a result of the attack, the head of the security service of the diplomatic mission was killed, and two other guards were injured. Tehran police said they arrested the suspect.
