Jeyhun Bayramov Harshly Responds to Russia over Lachin Corridor Issue
Jeyhun Bayramov, the head of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Baku implements its policy according to its national interests, not someone's call and vision. He commented on the statement of Maria Zakharova, head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service, about the Lachin corridor.
"We have heard dozens, hundreds, even thousands of different appeals in the last two and a half years, as well as during the 30-year occupation," he said. "Of course, it is necessary to hear these calls. It is important to analyze. We are also doing this, giving adequate reactions. I think that time has shown that the Azerbaijani side should and is taking systematic measures to develop and solve the issues in the right direction," Bayramov added.
The minister noted that the state of Azerbaijan has a concrete vision to solve the issues by observing the norms and principles of international law. "We implement our policy not because of someone's call and opinion but because of our national interests. We are sure this policy will bring positive results," the minister added.
It should be noted that Maria Zakharova recently called on Azerbaijan and Armenia. "Moscow is very worried about violating the ceasefire and the blockade of the Lachin corridor. We call upon Baku and Yerevan to resolve all issues exclusively through political and diplomatic means," she said. Zakharova added that this is contrary to tripartite agreements. "Russian peacekeepers will respond according to how the situation develops on the ground and within the framework of tripartite statements," the Russian representative added.
