
New EU Ambassador to Georgia Meets Zourabichvili and Garibashvili

Meeting with Georgian President
Salome Zourabichvili, the President of Georgia, and Pawel Herczynski, the new Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, met on September 5 to give Herczynski's credentials and talk about how Georgia can join the EU. In a formal statement, Ambassador Herczynski said, "Gamarjoba [Hello] Sakartvelo! Being the EU ambassador to Georgia is both an honour and a big responsibility for me."
Ambassador noted that his term comes at one of the most significant times in EU-Georgia relations. "A new reality is established by the historic decision by the European Council to award Georgia the European perspective," the Ambassador added. Ambassador Herczynski stated, "I will put forth endless effort, along with my team, to help Georgia get to the European Union."
Meeting with Georgian Prime Minister
On September 9, Irakli Garibashvili and Pawel Herczynski met to discuss bilateral relationships and the goals of the EU-Georgia Association Agenda. They underscored the significance of the European Council's decision to award Georgia a European perspective, according to a news statement from the Georgian government. "The decision established the groundwork for a new stage that should bring Georgia to EU membership," they said.
