New Hydrocarbon Deposits Discovered in Chechnya

Geologists from the Rosneft Scientific Institute and geologists from Grozneftegaz made the first discovery of new hydrocarbon deposits in the Chechen Federal Republic in 30 years.
"More than 2.5 million tons of oil and 1 billion m3 of gas have been put on the State Balance of Reserves," the company said. It is noted that increasing the efficiency of reserve replacement is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 Strategy. The company plans to replenish at least 100% of the produced hydrocarbons.
The company's specialists identified promising intervals of Maykop deposits at the Khayan-Kortovskoye field, which are at a late stage of development. During the testing of the well stock, waterless oil fountains were obtained with a flow rate of more than 40 m3/day. "The discovery of deposits is an important step in replenishing the mineral resource base of Grozneftegaz," the report added.
