Pashinyan Receives Positive Signal from Putin on Restoration of Railway Connection with Azerbaijan
At a meeting of the government of Armenia on November 24, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that he received a positive signal from Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue of restoring the railway with Azerbaijan.
"In the course of negotiations with the President of Russia, we received certain positive signals. This means that there may be a significant and serious possibility that we will return to work on restoring the railway. We are talking about the Horadiz-Meghri-Ordubad-Yeraskh road," the Prime Minister explained. At the same time, Pashinyan admitted that he is moderately optimistic about this topic, given the past negative experience.
"If everything that we learned and agreed on yesterday does not deviate from its logic, then shortly we will need large investments within the framework of the Armenian Crossroads project, in particular in the field of railway reconstruction," the head of government stated. "Armenia has the opportunity to attract such funds. Moreover, international partners should show great interest in this project," Pashinyan believed.
On November 23, after the CSTO summit in Yerevan, the leaders of Armenia and Russia held a bilateral meeting.
