Putin Praises Ties with Azerbaijan and Thanks Aliyev for Role in Iran Aid Transit

On June 4, Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, described relations between Russia and Azerbaijan as friendly and steadily developing, highlighting cooperation in both political and economic spheres. Speaking during a meeting with heads of leading international news agencies, Putin stated that ties between the two countries remain strong and continue to deepen. He noted that Moscow and Baku signed a strategic cooperation treaty several years ago, which has further strengthened bilateral relations. "I view relations between the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan as very good. We have always had and continue to have friendly relations with Azerbaijan, both in the economic and political spheres," Putin stated, adding that the strategic cooperation agreement reflects the positive trajectory of relations between the two countries.

During the same meeting, Putin also expressed gratitude to Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, for Baku's assistance in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to Iran. According to Putin, the Azerbaijani side responded promptly to Russian requests and played an important role in organizing the transit of humanitarian supplies. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's efforts contributed to alleviating the situation in the region. "We are very grateful to President Aliyev for helping us deliver humanitarian aid to Iran," Putin stated. He added that Azerbaijani authorities worked effectively on the initiative and "responded instantly to all our requests," describing such cooperation as important for mitigating challenges in the affected area.
