Pickets against persecution of journalists held in Makhachkala

In Makhachkala, single-person pickets were again held against the persecution of independent journalists, as well as demanding freedom for their profession.

Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the Chernovik newspaper, went to the picket with a poster stating "freedom to journalism," reminding that censorship is prohibited by the country's constitution. The second participant in the action, journalist Magomed Magomedov, was picketing with a demand to stop the illegal criminal prosecution of his colleague from Chernovik, journalist Abdulmumin Gadzhiev. Journalist Idris Yusupov demanded that the authorities release all political prisoners.

Pickets are regularly held near the buildings of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the republic’s FSB office. Colleagues and relatives of Abdulmumin Gadzhiev gather for them. A police squad is regularly on duty by the rally, and each time the district police officer receives statements from the participants about the picket's goals.

Five more soldiers from North Ossetia died in Ukraine

The death of at least five Russian military from North Ossetia, who participated in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine has been announced. The names and photographs of the dead were published by several regional publications, as well as by military colleagues.

Oleg Marzoev, a reserve officer of the 58th army from Vladikavkaz, reported about four dead on his Instagram page. Among them are sergeant of the Russian Guard Dmitry Fedenko, foreman Mikhail Skokov, Kazbek Dzukaev and sergeant Akhsartag Sabanov. It is reported that the latter's younger brother is now also in the area of ​​direct clashes with the Ukrainian army.

Also, 26-year-old native of North Ossetia Oleg Kovalchuk died on the territory of Ukraine. A military memorial service for the dead is scheduled for March 8 in the republic’s capital.

On March 4, it became known that Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Orders of Courage to the fallen soldiers from North Ossetia Alexander Zheleznov and Chermen Misikov. According to Oleg Marzoev, who reported the losses, Mikhail Skokov died on the same day along with fellow soldier Zheleznov.

Data on those killed in the war in Ukraine

In the Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories, Dagestan and the Volgograd Region, the names of eight more natives of these regions who died during Russia's military aggression in Ukraine have been made public.

The head of the Soviet urban district of the Stavropol Territory, Sergei Voronkov, announced the death of two servicemen - natives of the region, paratroopers Anatoly Vorobyov and junior sergeant Daniil Lutsenko. Earlier, Voronkov informed about the death of Corporal Dmitry Pavshenko.

The funeral of Major Aleksey Ilnitsky and Igor Khaziakhmetov, who were killed in Ukraine, took place in the Kanevsky district of the Krasnodar Territory. Earlier, Ilnitsky took part in the "counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus" and Khaziakhmetov participated in hostilities in the North Caucasus region and in Syria. The preceding information was published by the district administration.

A message from the command of the Southern Military District shared news of Magomed Makhachev’s death, a native of the village of Hotoda in the Shamilsky district of Dagestan. It also reported about the death of a native of the village of Akka, Tabasaran district, Arab Arabov.
