Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Visits Zangilan and Jabrayil

| News, Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh

On October 20, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of the Republic of Turkey, arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan for an official visit, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani President reported.

A guard of honor was arranged for the Turkish President at the Zangilan International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two countries. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, welcomed Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the airport.

A ceremony to inaugurate the Zangilan International Airport has been held. Aliyev and Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony.

Inauguration of smart agricultural complex

On the same day, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the inauguration of the first stage of the “Dost Agropark" smart agricultural complex in the Zangilan district.

Aliyev said: "It is an unforgettable day in the history of Zangilan district today. My brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the honorable President of the fraternal country, is visiting Zangilan. This is a great holiday for all of us, a great holiday for all the people of Azerbaijan."

Erdoğan stated: "These places, which have seen war and were completely uninhabitable in its aftermath, have now turned into fertile lands. When we arrived, my brother Ilham and I talked about it, and now we will build a reservoir here in a short time – within two to two and a half years, he said. Thanks to this reservoir, these areas will become more fertile. Inshallah, wheat, corn, and barley will be grown in these fertile lands."

Visit to Jabrayil

On October 20, an official welcome ceremony was held for the President of the Republic of Turkey in the city of Jabrayil.

Following the official welcome ceremony in the city of Jabrayil, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the President of the Republic of Turkey held a one-on-one meeting. Following the one-on-one meeting in the city of Jabrayil, Aliyev and Erdoğan have made joint press statements.

Aliyev stated: "From the first hours of the second Karabakh war, my dear brother, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, expressed his support for Azerbaijan. He said that Turkey is with Azerbaijan. This political and moral support continued until the last day of the war. This gave us additional strength; it prevented some forces from interfering in this matter. The Turkish-Azerbaijani union has triumphed once again. Today, we still see Turkish-Azerbaijani unity in restored Karabakh and Zangazur. Large-scale restoration and construction works are underway."

"We are grateful to Turkish companies for doing great things in a short period. Construction of roads - part of the roads is already ready, and railways and 33 tunnels are planned. Several of them are actively working. The total length of the tunnels is more than 50 kilometers, 84 bridges will be built, and some of them have been built. The total length of the bridges is 12 kilometers. This is only the work that has been done and will be done in the first stage," he added.

"These destructions were not caused by the First Karabakh War but by the Armenians during the occupation. See how much hatred they had for the people of Azerbaijan that they destroyed all the buildings. The main purpose was that Azerbaijanis would never return to these lands; there would be no place to return," the Azerbaijani President emphasized.

He stated: "Today is the next celebration of Turkey-Azerbaijan unity and brotherhood. A powerful country like Turkey is our brother, and it is a great happiness for us. The second Karabakh war and the period after the war strengthened this unity even more. Last year, we signed the Shusha Declaration in Shusha, and Turkey and Azerbaijan officially became allies. We became allies in all areas, which is a serious concern for our people and, at the same time, a serious message to the region and the world. Because the Turkish-Azerbaijani union is a very important factor in the region. This is a factor of peace and stability. But, at the same time, if someone still wants to act unfairly against us, they should seriously consider this factor."

"Thanks to the leadership of my dear brother, Turkey has had great success in recent years and has become a power center in the world. Stability and development in Turkey are obvious. Today, there is a crisis in many countries of the world, countries are becoming ungovernable, and economic difficulties and hardships are causing people's rightful protest. On the other hand, Turkey is moving forward with confidence, implementing huge projects, having a say in the region, and being an important power center in the world. Everyone should reckon with this, and everyone should know that the cause of these successes is my brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan," Ilham Aliyev concluded.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated: "Now I look to my right and my left, what they have done to Jabrayil during the occupation. I asked my brother, and I said, did the OSCE and the European Union come here and see? No, they don't come. Why don't they come? Because they will see their faces, they will see what the West is doing. They will see what they did to Jabrayil and other regions of Karabakh during that period of occupation they supported here. Of course, they don't want to see them. They know what is being done."

"But after we saw this, we talked about it, and we must take these cases to justice and demand compensation for them. They should be brought to a standstill by asking for their compensation. The world needs to know the West very well, we all need to know it together," he added.

"In my opinion, the fear and anxiety in some circles about the Zangazur corridor, which will connect Nakhchivan with the western regions of Azerbaijan, is far from reality. That is, there is no need for such fear after these steps taken regarding the entire Karabakh. Azerbaijan continues its path with sure steps. This road will contribute to the region's peace, tranquility, and stability and will provide trade and investment opportunities for all countries located on the East-West and Middle Corridor routes passing through the Caspian Sea," the Turkish President said.

"Azerbaijan-Armenia and Turkey-Armenia normalization processes are advancing in a way that supports each other. This window of opportunity should be well evaluated," he underlined.

"Long live the Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood!" Erdoğan concluded.
