Strategy Aghmashenebeli leader on Deoligarchization Bill

| News, Georgia

At a briefing in the Parliament, Giorgi Vashadze, the head of Strategy Aghmashenebeli, stated, "I am addressing Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the pro-Russian party. You have a straightforward choice: either you send the deoligarchization bill to the Venice Commission, or you do not. In this case, you reject the EU candidate status."

"The European Union, the United States, the civil sector, and even Várhelyi, who the representatives of the Georgian Dream love so much, demand that the Georgian Parliament sends the draft law to the Venice Commission," Vashadze claimed.

Vashadze also pointed out that the issue of Ukraine has been dropped from the agenda and that the country itself is not waiting for the Venice Commission's conclusion on the passed law on deoligarchization.

"The speculations of the pro-Russian Georgian Dream on the deoligarchization law have reached an unprecedented limit. All of Europe, the USA, and all independent organizations in Georgia say that the law, which is absurd, but was registered and passed in two readings, should be sent to the Venice Commission. These people tell us tales, so they do not send the project to the Venice Commission. Accordingly, no matter whether Ukraine receives a conclusion, the issue is as follows - if the Parliament of Georgia does not send the law on deoligarchization to the Venice Commission, it means that they are taking a step towards the country not receiving the status of a candidate. The discussion is already on the kindergarten level - incredible absurdity is going around," the head of Strategy Aghmashenebeli said.
