The prosecutor's office is seeking to remove the leader of the Yabloko party in the Kuban from the elections
The Yeisk inter-district prosecutor in the Krasnodar Territory is seeking the removal of municipal deputy Alexander Korovainy, who is the first in the list of candidates for the State Duma from the Yabloko party in the Krasnodar territorial group. According to the supervisory authority, the candidate is connected to the extremist organisation recognised in Russia, Navalny's headquarters.
“On January 31 Korovainy took part in an unauthorised rally organized by the Public Movement Navalny Headquarters in Yeisk, Krasnodar Territory. In addition, through the internet, Korovainy has repeatedly disseminated information materials aimed at discrediting the policy pursued by the state authorities of the Russian Federation and containing statements in support of Navalny," the inter-district prosecutor's office lawsuit states.
Based on these facts, the Yeisk inter-district prosecutor Sergei Chikarov demands the legal recognition of the connection between the State Duma candidate and the extremist organisation.
As Alexander Korovainy said, on January 31, he attended a rally in support of opposition politician Alexei Navalny as a correspondent for the Kubanovsti newspaper.
"I was wearing a shirt-front with an inscription from the press, an editorial assignment and a journalist's certificate. Only on this basis, the prosecutor believes that I am connected with Navalny and pose a terrible threat to our state," the municipal deputy added.
As Korovainy discovered, this is the second lawsuit from the prosecutor's office regarding Korovaniy’s connection with Navalny's headquarters. In both cases, the Yeisk City Court dismissed the claim. Currently, the prosecutor's office is challenging the refusal, the district election commission has been brought in by a third party in the case - recognition of the fact of connection with an extremist organisation can automatically lead to the removal of a candidate from the elections.
On August 13, the Election Commission of Dagestan refused to register the list of candidates for deputies of the People's Assembly of the Republic of the party "New People." However, the party continues its campaign in Dagestan for the elections to the State Duma.
On August 4, the Central Election Commission registered the federal list of the Yabloko party, which is followed by former executive director of the liquidated "Open Russia" Andrei Pivovarov. He is in the Krasnodar pre-trail detention centre No. 1 on charges of participating in an undesirable organisation due to a repost on a social network. In total, there are 300 people on the list.
