Tskhinvali: "The West Failed to Destabilize the Situation in Georgia, so They Plan to Open a Second Front in the Balkans"

| News, Georgia, Tskhinvali

Dmitry Medoev, the de-facto Foreign Minister of separatist Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia, said on August 2 about the worsening of relations between Kosovo and Serbia that the West failed to weaken the situation in Georgia and fully involve it in the general anti-Russian campaign, so they plan to open a second front in the Balkans.

"In Ukraine, not everything is proceeding as the Americans and the British would want. This game is incredibly risky. Such actions can detonate throughout the European continent and lead to unpredictable consequences for the whole world," he explained. He highlighted that the only proper approach in this scenario is the calm one taken by the Serbian leadership.

According to Dmitry Medoev, the military-political events that occurred at the turn of the century in the territory of the former Yugoslavia piqued the interest of both European and non-European states. "The 1999 bombing of Belgrade was the pinnacle of Western cynicism against the former Yugoslavia," he continued.

Kosovo and Serbia stand on the verge of armed confrontation. Kosovo intends to cease recognising Serbian documents beginning August 1. In light of these circumstances, Belgrade declared that Pristina was planning a military attack against the Kosovo Serbs. The NATO Mission in Kosovo (KFOR) has declared that it is prepared to intervene if the stability of northern Kosovo is jeopardised.
