
South Ossetia Announces Major Changes in Interior Ministry Leadership; Abkhazia Investigates Former Prosecutor for Illegal Firearms and Shooting Incident

On June 9, Alan Gagloev, the de-facto President of separatist South Ossetia, signed a decree relieving Alan Guchmazov, Head of the Interior Ministry of South Ossetia, of his duties and appointing new officials to key positions within the ministry.
Guchmazov was replaced by First Deputy Minister Erislav Mamiev as the new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Alongside this appointment, Atsamaz Sagkaev was named First Deputy Minister and head of the criminal police, while Dmitry Dudayev, previously the head of the DBEP, was appointed head of the Investigation Department, replacing Pyotr Tadtaev. David Nalbandov assumed the position of deputy minister responsible for personnel affairs, a post formerly held by Soslan Sanakoev. Additionally, a separate decree from Gagloev dismissed Deputy Interior Minister Igor Pliev from his position.
Meanwhile, in separatist Abkhazia, a criminal case was initiated against Beslan Pkin, the former Prosecutor of the Gagra District, for the illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of firearms, according to a statement from the Interior Ministry of Abkhazia. The investigation revealed that Pkin had unlawfully obtained a weapon equipped with a magazine and 9×19 mm cartridges without official documentation. On December 7, 2024, Pkin fired this weapon at the Dolce Vita restaurant on Krasnomayatskiy Tupik Street in Sokhumi.
