Turkish Defense Minister Visits Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Defense Minister meets his Turkish Counterpart

On December 5, at the invitation of Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, a delegation led by Hulusi Akar, the Minister of National Defense of Turkey, arrived in Azerbaijan on a working visit, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported. Colonel General Hasanov met the guests at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the Defense Minister and the leadership of the Ministry met with the Turkish delegation.

Army General Yashar Güler, the Chief of the General Staff, Army General Musa Avsever, the Commander of the Land Forces, Army General Atilla Gülan, the Commander of the Air Force, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, the Commander of the Naval Forces, Cahit Bağcı, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Azerbaijan, and other officials participated in the meeting.

After welcoming the guests, Colonel General Z. Hasanov highlighted the development of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey and emphasized the significance of further expanding the work carried out in this direction.

Emphasizing satisfaction with visiting the fraternal country, Akar expressed gratitude for the hospitality and stressed that the strategic alliance between the two countries is based on friendly and brotherly relations.

The military personnel involved in the "Fraternal Fist" exercises receive awards

On December 6, the military personnel was awarded during Distinguished Visitors Day held on December 6 as part of the Azerbaijani-Turkish joint exercises.

Zakir Hasanov and Hulusi Akar awarded a group of Azerbaijani and Turkish servicemen who distinguished themselves in the exercises.

Akar expressed satisfaction with the participation, along with the Chief of the General Staff and other commanders of types of troops, in the Distinguished Visitors Day held as part of the exercises. The Minister of National Defense of Turkey noted that in a time of increasing threats and dangers around the world, it is possible to ensure the security of Turkey and Azerbaijan only by having a strong army. Joint exercises are also important for the mutual exchange of experience and for increasing the level of professionalism.

Emphasizing that Turkey always stands by Azerbaijan and is ready to unite in a single fist against any threats and provocations, Hulusi Akar noted that "our friend's friend is our friend and our friend's enemy is our enemy."

Hasanov expressed satisfaction with seeing Turkish service members in Azerbaijan. The Defense Minister stressed that all types of troops fulfilled their duties at a high level during the exercises. The Azerbaijan Defense Minister said, "Following the 44-day war, under the instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, reforms are being carried out to bring the Azerbaijan Army in line with the model of the Turkish Armed Forces. We are fortunate because the Turkish Armed Forces are one of the world's leading armies. As one nation, two states, we are effectively using this chance. The Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood is eternal. Long live the Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood!"

Turkish Defense Minister meets Ilham Aliyev

On December 5, Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Hulusi Akar, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani President reported.

They noted that 2022 is also a very successful year in developing friendly and brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. They also emphasized that bilateral relations are growing stronger in all areas, including the military field. The sides underlined that the Azerbaijan-Turkey joint military exercises currently held in Azerbaijan are very important. They pointed out that Azerbaijan and Turkey will always stand by each other.

Saying that his visit to Azerbaijan was on the evening of the commemoration day of national leader Heydar Aliyev, Hulusi Akar emphasized once again that the memory of the national leader has always been remembered with deep respect in Turkey.

During the conversation, they especially mentioned the role of regular meetings held between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey in developing bilateral relations and hailed the fact that cooperation in the military and other fields continues successfully based on the decisions made by the two presidents.

The sides expressed confidence that Hulusi Akar's visit to Azerbaijan will contribute to the expansion of relations.
