
Turkish specialists find parts of the lost MiG-29 aircraft

On 9 August, the official website of the Turkish Ministry of Defense distributed photos of fragments of the MiG-29 of the Azerbaijani Air Force that crashed on 24 July, reported vesti.az.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that on 8 August, the territory where the MiG-29 supposedly crashed into the Caspian Sea during an overnight training flight was determined. As a result of urgent measures taken with the participation of representatives of relevant state structures and services, as well as Turkish specialists, some of the fragments of the aircraft were lifted from the water. Currently, preparatory work is underway to raise the main part of the aircraft from the bottom of the sea.
A day earlier, the Russian Caspian flotilla announced that they will also take part in the search of the lost plane. The search squad included up to 50 people, a small hydrographic vessel and a rescue towing vessel. The identified search area was approximately 600 square kilometres long, and the depth reached up to 40 meters.
The reasons for the plane crash still remain unknown with various theories circulating (Caucasus Watch reported).
