Ukraine Criticizes Georgian Dream Election Video
On August 13, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry criticized an election video released by Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party. The video used footage of destroyed Ukrainian cities to depict what could happen to Georgia if it refused a path of peace. The ministry described the video as "another unfriendly action" and accused the party of exploiting the consequences of Russia’s aggression for political PR.
In its statement, the ministry said such "cynical steps demonstrate disrespect for the Ukrainian people" and provoke justified indignation. It expressed regret that the Georgian government was "trying to flatter Moscow" while neglecting the dignity inherent to the Georgian nation. The ministry also advised the party's political strategists that a "more truthful picture" would show "the Russian tricolor on the right and the closed doors of the EU and NATO on the left," arguing that the current Georgian government "has deprived the country not of war, but of a European future."
