Armenia
Border breaches
On August 15, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported that the statement issued by the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, which claimed that at approximately 6:10 p.m. [local time] on that day, units of the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire toward Azerbaijani combat positions in the southwestern part of the border, was not accurate. The Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia had proposed to the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, through diplomatic channels, the creation of a bilateral mechanism for investigating cases of ceasefire violations.
On the same day, the Ministry addressed another claim, stating, "The statement disseminated by the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, alleging that on August 16, at approximately 03:20 a.m., units of the Armenian Armed Forces fired upon Azerbaijani combat positions located in the western part of the border, does not correspond to reality." The Ministry reiterated that the Armenian Prime Minister's Office had proposed establishing a bilateral mechanism with Azerbaijan to investigate ceasefire violations.
On August 18, the Armenian Defense Ministry again responded to similar claims from Azerbaijan, noting, "The statement issued by the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan, alleging that on August 18, at approximately 7:30 p.m., units of the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire towards Azerbaijani combat positions in the southwestern part of the border, does not correspond to reality."
Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy Delegation Visits US Military Training Institutions
From August 3 to 14, a delegation from the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy, led by the head of the academy, Colonel Arsen Mangasaryan, conducted a series of visits to US military training institutions. During the visit, the delegation, accompanied by Dr. Stan Anton, the Academic Director of the Armenian Defense Education Development Program, toured the US Army Center of Combat Skills Training and Excellence at Fort Moore and the US Army Command College at Fort Leavenworth.
During these visits, the delegation familiarized themselves with the programs offered by US military training institutions, observed how the training processes were organized, and followed field exercises. In discussions with their American counterparts, they addressed topics related to future cooperation and explored ways to further enhance the training processes at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy.

Azerbaijan and Türkiye Discuss Defense Cooperation During High-Level Meeting
On August 13, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that Agil Gurbanov, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Director General, met with a delegation led by Haluk Gorgun, President of the Secretariat of Defense Industries under the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, who was visiting Azerbaijan. Welcoming the Turkish delegation, Gurbanov expressed his pleasure at their visit and emphasized the significance of such meetings in strengthening cooperation with the fraternal country.
In response, Haluk Gorgun expressed gratitude for the hospitality and confidently stated that the joint production projects between Azerbaijan and Türkiye would enhance the defense capabilities of both countries' Armed Forces. The meeting, which also included the Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Cahit Bagci, and management from leading Turkish military-industrial enterprises, focused on the current state and future prospects of military and military-technical cooperation between the two nations. There was also a broad exchange of views on other mutual interests.
As part of the visit, the Turkish delegates met with Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, who is currently fulfilling the duties of the Deputy Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan and Commander of the Air Force. The guests were briefed on the history and ongoing activities of the Central Command Post of the Air Force, and their questions were addressed.
Uzbek Military Personnel Attend UAV Tactics Course in Azerbaijan
On August 14, Uzbek military personnel visited Azerbaijan to participate in a course on planning and tactics for using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern armed conflicts. On the first day of the course, the Uzbek delegation received a briefing on the history and activities of the Azerbaijani Air Force, including the use of UAVs in traditional battles, the organization of combat flights, and the deployment of mini and micro UAVs within the Azerbaijan Army.
The delegation was also shown various UAVs in the arsenal of the Azerbaijan Army and informed about their tactical and technical characteristics.
Local exercises
On August 15, the helicopter units of the Air Force conducted training flights. Military pilots underwent a health check after briefing the personnel on their tasks and safety regulations. According to the training flight plan, helicopters from base airfields carried out takeoffs and landings, conducted aerial reconnaissance, and performed other activities along specified routes during both daytime and nighttime. The military pilots demonstrated exceptional professionalism during these exercises, which were aimed at enhancing their combat skills.
On August 17, Air Defense Units conducted a tactical-special exercise. During the exercise, the combat crews of the S-300 Favorit anti-aircraft missile complexes brought their equipment to combat readiness, marched to designated positions, moved to the starting locations, and completed tasks related to preparing and camouflaging the area. The exercise also included protecting critical facilities from air attacks and repelling simulated enemy rocket assaults. The primary objective of the exercise was to increase the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of military personnel and to maintain the high-level combat capability of the air defense units.
Saudi Military Delegation Visits Azerbaijan for Ideological and Moral-Psychological Training
On August 15, a delegation led by Major General Musfer bin Hassan bin Musfer Al-Essa, the Director of the General Administration for Morale Affairs and Values Promotion of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, visited Azerbaijan. The delegation was welcomed at the Azerbaijan Army's Training and Educational Center by Colonel Elshad Abilov, the Chief of the Department for Ideological Work and Moral-Psychological Support of the Main Department for Personnel of the Ministry of Defense.
During the visit, the delegation attended lectures on "The Role of National, Moral, Ethical, and Patriotic Values in Enhancing the Moral and Psychological Spirit of Military Personnel." They were also briefed on the organization of ideological work and the training of military psychologists. The meeting further addressed the expansion of cooperation in military education between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Border breaches
On August 15, at approximately 18:10 [local time], the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported that Armenian armed forces units had opened fire using small arms on Azerbaijan Army positions stationed near the Ganza settlement in the Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The Azerbaijan Army units responded with retaliatory measures.
On August 16, at around 03:20, the Ministry noted that Armenian armed forces again targeted Azerbaijan Army positions, this time in the direction of the Sadarak region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The Azerbaijan Army units took retaliatory action in response.
On August 18, at approximately 19:30, the Azerbaijani side reported that Armenian armed forces units had fired upon Azerbaijan Army positions near the Lakatagh settlement in the Julfa region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
