Working Dinner Between Armenian Defense Minister and US Ambassador

On January 18, at the invitation of Kristina Kvien, the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, a working dinner was held between Suren Papikyan, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, and Ambassador Kvien, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.

During the discussions, the interlocutors delved into cooperation between Armenia and the United States in the defense sector and regional security. Additionally, various issues of mutual interest were addressed.

Concluding the meeting, Minister Papikyan thanked Ambassador Kvien for her gracious hospitality.

Armenian Defense Minister Meets with NATO Secretary General's Special Representative

On January 19, Suren Papikyan met with Javier Colomina, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia. 

During the meeting, discussions centered on the current course of the Armenia-NATO partnership and the prospects for its development.

Additionally, the deliberations extended to encompass various matters on regional security and mutual interests.

Azerbaijan

Local exercise

On January 15, tactical-special exercises of the Operations Commando units continued under the training plan of the current year, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported. According to the plan, tasks were carried out to neutralize the imaginary enemy group attempting to commit sabotage. By the visual observation of the area, the imaginary enemy facility was evaluated, then its military equipment was ambushed, and the members of the group were captured. 

Azerbaijani Defense Minister Holds Meeting with Turkish Deputy Minister of National Defense

On January 17, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with the delegation led by Celal Sami Tüfekçi, the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, who was on a working visit to Azerbaijan. The Defense Minister noted that Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation is constantly developing in all fields, including the military. He emphasized that the strategic alliance between the two fraternal countries is based on friendship and brotherhood. The Minister noted that the friendly relations of the heads of the two states play an invaluable role in reaching a high level of Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation. Tüfekçi expressed his satisfaction with the visit to Azerbaijan. He expressed the importance of further expansion of cooperation based on mutual trust, confidence, and support between the two countries. The meeting discussed further expansion of Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation in military, military-technical, and other fields, including regional security issues.

On the same day, Director General Agil Gurbanov, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with the delegation led by Celal Sami Tüfekçi. The prospects for developing military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye were discussed during the International Military Cooperation Department meeting. The sides exchanged detailed views on several issues of common interest in the military-technical field.

Azerbaijani delegation visits Iran

On January 18, the Azerbaijani delegation, led by the Deputy Rector of the National Defense University for Science – Rector of the Military Scientific-Research Institute, Doctor of National Security and Military Sciences, Associate Professor, Major General Arif Hasanov, paid a visit to Iran at the invitation of Brigadier General Dr. Ismail Ahmadi Moghadam, the President of the Supreme National Defense University of Iran.

The Azerbaijani delegation attended the Supreme National Defense University of Iran as part of the visit. Brigadier General Ismail Ahmadi Moghadam expressed satisfaction with seeing the Azerbaijani delegation in his country. The delegation got acquainted with the scientific-educational bases and the Supreme National Defense University of Iran library. It was presented with a briefing on the activities of the educational institution.

The meeting emphasized the importance of mutual visits and such meetings to develop cooperation in the field of science and education.

Then, the Azerbaijani delegation got acquainted with the exhibition, which presented military products produced by the Iranian Defense Ministry.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also attended the IRGC University of Command and Staff and the International Cooperation Department of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.

They held meetings to exchange views on several issues of common interest in the field of military education.

Azerbaijan Defense Minister Meets Slovak Counterpart for Bilateral Talks

On January 18, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with the delegation led by Robert Kaliňák, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the Slovak Republic, who was on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

Hasanov welcomed the guests and expressed his satisfaction with seeing them in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan's Defense Minister informed the guests about the demining and reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories.

The importance of developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia in military-technical, military-educational, and other fields was emphasized.

Kaliňák expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality. The Slovak Defense Minister congratulated his Azerbaijani colleague on the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He expressed the importance of developing a mutual experience exchange with the Azerbaijan Army and studying modern combat operations. 

In the end, the sides exchanged views on several issues of interest in the military field between Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
