The Delta CAC Georgian-Israeli company has launched the production of GI-4 assault rifles in Georgia.

The Delta CAC Georgian-Israeli company operating under state-run military scientific-technical centre Delta has started the production of GI-4 assault rifles of M4 type.

All parts of the weapon will be produced in Georgia.

Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze, and other guests visited the production site on 28 October.

"I congratulate Delta and the whole Defence Ministry, on this very important product. As you know, all parts of the assault rifle, including plastic ones, will be produced here on the ground.”

“We have trained our personnel, [the] people working here. It is very important, and I congratulate everyone on the launch of this highly important production," Gharibashvili said.

The deal on the production of assault rifles was signed in May 2021 between the Georgian Defence Ministry and an Israeli company.

According to the project, GI-4 (5.56) rifles produced in the plant in line with NATO standards will be handed over to the Georgian defence forces, which will facilitate the process of equipping military subunits with modern weaponry.

The Georgian-Israeli company owns modern production equipment. It will be able to produce different weapons and their accessories and modernise weapons in the future. It also plans to export products manufactured at the plant.
