Alan Gagloev Visits Russia and Meets Kremlin Officials

On August 1, Alan Gagloev, the de-facto President of the separatist Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, went to Moscow on a working visit, the de-facto Press Office of the President of the separatist Tskhinvali region reported.

On August 4, Alan Gagloev met with Kazbek Taysaev, the Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots. Gagloev stressed that Russia has always been not just a strategic partner of South Ossetia but a truly fraternal country. Kazbek Taysaev, in turn, conveyed greetings from the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, and noted the importance of deepening cooperation between Russia and South Ossetia.

On the same day, Alan Gagloev met with Dmitry Kozak, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, in Moscow. Current issues of bilateral cooperation between South Ossetia and Russia, as well as the increase in wages and pensions for employees of ministries and departments of the Republic of South Ossetia, were discussed during the meeting. The parties also discussed issues of developing the socio-economic sphere and attracting investments to the republic. Alan Gagloev initiated the need to reconstruct the Nizhny Zaramag checkpoint to facilitate its crossing by citizens of the separatist South Ossetia.
