Each Family of Mobilized Dagestanis to Receive EUR 1595
On October 10, Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, announced that the families of the mobilized Dagestanis would receive a lump sum of 100,000 rubles (EUR 1595) each.
He asked all heads of municipalities and local military commissars to promptly organize their work so that payments reach those entitled to them.
"As I said earlier, as long as our guys defend the country with weapons in their hands, their families will not be left without support. And a one-time payment is just one of the ways to support them," said the head of Dagestan.
In early October, Caucasus Watch reported that about 30 criminal cases had been initiated in Dagestan after mass protests against the announced mobilization. Several people have already been sent to jail. According to lawyers, all the defendants have injuries: hematomas in the eyes, nose, limbs, chest, purple-bluish ears, and brain concussions. It is planned to conduct a forensic medical examination of all affected detainees. Adam Gadzhiev, Mukhamm Magomedov, Sultan Akhmedkhanov, Magomed Ubaidulaev, and Murad Aligadzhiev are charged with using dangerous violence against a police officer. It is also known that a criminal case has been opened against a minor (his name is not known)—he is suspected of using non-dangerous violence against a police officer. Isa Abdulaev is suspected under the same article.
On September 25, Caucasus Watch reported that police clashed with people opposed to the mobilization in the southern Russian region of Dagestan, underscoring the discontent with President Vladimir Putin's decision to send hundreds of thousands more men to fight in the Russian war in Ukraine. Numerous images shared on social media showed confrontations with police in Makhachkala, the provincial capital, while protestors chanted "No to War." A video clip has also been released showing a man in civilian clothes shooting into the air in a square where women and children are. It is reported that clashes between the protesters and the police took place.
