On June 3, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conducted a series of high-level meetings in Nairobi during his official visit to Kenya, strengthening bilateral ties and inaugurating Azerbaijan’s new embassy in the country.

Bayramov met with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, for one-on-one discussions covering a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues, including agriculture, environmental sustainability, defense cooperation, global governance, and peace and security. Mudavadi described the talks as productive and reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to deepening the longstanding friendship between the two nations.

During the visit, Bayramov and Mudavadi jointly attended the inauguration ceremony of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kenya. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry highlighted this milestone as a vital step toward strengthening interstate relations, enhancing communication, and promoting cooperation. Bayramov expressed gratitude for the supportive environment Kenya provided for the embassy’s operations.

Bayramov also held talks with Amason Kingi, the Speaker of the Kenyan Senate, where they underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation. They agreed to foster direct contacts between parliamentary friendship groups and relevant committees to build mutual understanding and trust.

Kenyan President William Ruto received Bayramov at the State House, where Bayramov extended an invitation for Ruto to undertake a state visit to Azerbaijan. President Ruto expressed Nairobi’s keen interest in expanding cooperation with Baku, noting that the new Azerbaijani embassy would serve as a foundation for a thriving partnership. Ruto highlighted opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, green energy, mining, and people-to-people ties as key areas for future collaboration.
