Ankara Offers Azerbaijan to Buy Turkish Fighter Jets

On January 9, Ismail Demir, the head of the Defense Industry Directorate (SSB), stated that Turkey offered Azerbaijan the chance to buy its own fighter jets.
"We sent invitations to friendly and fraternal countries in connection with the supply of domestic fighters. These countries include Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Malaysia. If there is demand, we are open to discussion at different levels. We believe the partnership will benefit all parties," Demir added.
According to him, Ankara is open to partnering in defense-industrial projects of various levels with friendly and fraternal countries. "We have met and exceeded our 2022 export forecasts for military products. We expect that this year this figure will be six billion dollars, and maybe even higher," the head of SSB said.
Interestingly, Lieutenant General Ramiz Tahirov, the commander of the Azerbaijani Air Force, said in October 2021 that Baku would purchase new aircraft soon. Azerbaijani military experts pointed to the most likely purchase of aircraft for its Air Force: combat trainers M-346 made in Italy, a modification of which (M-346FA) is used as light fighters.
