
Armenia and Georgia Sign 2024 Defense Cooperation Agreement

After the welcoming ceremony at the Ministry of Defense headquarters, Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and his Georgian counterpart Irakli Chikovani had a private conversation on July 13. The Armenian Defense Ministry reported that this was followed by a meeting with extended delegations.
During the meeting, the current level of cooperation was highly valued, and issues related to Armenia-Georgia defense cooperation and regional security were discussed. The parties also presented details regarding ongoing army reforms in both countries.
“At the end of the meeting, the defense ministers signed the 2024 cooperation plan between the Armenian Ministry of Defense and the Georgian Ministry of Defense,” the statement read.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also hosted Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani on July 14, as the government press office reported.
Pashinyan praised the high-level relations between Armenia and Georgia, emphasizing the significance of Chikovani’s visit. He noted Armenia’s commitment to deepening and developing multi-disciplinary cooperation with Georgia and commended the effective partnership between the defense ministries of both countries.
Chikovani, in turn, highlighted the importance of cooperating with the Armenian Defense Ministry and expanding related programs. The two officials exchanged views on strengthening their defense partnership and regional security and stability issues.
