Armenia and Georgia Strengthen Strategic Partnership with Joint Declaration

In a private discussion held on January 26 in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, Armenian Prime Ministers Nikol Pashinyan and Irakli Garibashvili of Georgia engaged in talks. The agenda encompassed the current meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation, alongside bilateral political and economic relations between Armenia and Georgia, as reported by the Armenian Prime Minister’s office. 

Both sides emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration between their countries, expressing their belief that the current intergovernmental commission meeting would invigorate bilateral cooperation across all sectors. They deliberated on enhancing trade and economic relations and advancing joint initiatives between Armenia and Georgia across various domains.

The conversation also touched upon the current developments in the region. Both parties emphasized that taking consistent measures toward peace and stability remains crucial.

During the talks, Prime Minister Garibashvili and Nikol Pashinyan also agreed to direct relevant departments to initiate practical measures to finalize the border delimitation process between Armenia and Georgia.

During the statements following the session of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Armenia and Georgia, the Armenian PM announced the signing of a joint declaration with Prime Minister Garibashvili, establishing a strategic partnership between Armenia and Georgia.

During a joint press conference, Nikol Pashinyan also informed his colleague about the efforts made by the Armenian Government to normalize relations with Azerbaijan. He expressed hope that after the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, the negotiation process would reach its full scope based on the already agreed and well-known principles to complete the amendment of the Peace Treaty.
