
Armenia and India Affirm Stronger Inter-Parliamentary Relations

Vice President of the Armenian National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan met with Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairperson of the Indian Parliament, to discuss a wide range of issues concerning inter-parliamentary cooperation, according to an official readout.
During the meeting, Arshakyan highlighted the historic and friendly relations between Armenia and India, built on mutual respect and centuries-old ties. He praised the effective collaboration between the two parliaments and emphasized the role of the Armenia-India Friendship Group operating under his leadership.
Singh, in turn, welcomed efforts to expand bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of forming and strengthening the India-Armenia Friendship Group to enhance parliamentary diplomacy and open new avenues for cooperation. He also highlighted the significance of the official visit by the delegation led by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan to India, noting that mutual visits are crucial for the development of relations.
Arshakyan presented Armenia’s approach to the peaceful settlement of relations with Azerbaijan, including the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative. Members of the Indian delegation voiced their support for the project, reaffirming India’s endorsement of Armenia’s peace agenda.
Both sides expressed readiness to strengthen ties across various sectors further. Arshakyan reiterated Armenia's interest in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with India and extended an invitation to his Indian counterpart to visit Armenia.
