On June 17, Ararat Mirzoyan, Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Richard Verma, the US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources. Verma was visiting Armenia as part of the first official delegation of US Mayors and Local representatives.

During their meeting, discussions centered on expanding the bilateral partnership agenda between Armenia and the US and on regional developments.

Minister Mirzoyan highlighted the recent Capstone meeting of the Armenia-US Strategic Dialogue held in Yerevan on June 12, stating, "We just concluded the second Capstone meeting of Strategic dialogue between Armenia and the United States, and this time, we not only brought new areas and directions to our cooperation but also made a decision to elevate it to establish a Strategic Partnership, which will be another milestone. So we move on the correct path, we have tangible results, and of course, we will discuss much more."

In response, Richard Verma emphasized, "The Strategic Partnership is incredibly important to the United States, and we look forward to leaving here with a clear road map on how we can advance in key areas on peace and prosperity, economy, trade, people-to-people ties and continue to bring our cooperation to another level."

The discussions also covered Armenian-American decentralized cooperation, focusing on establishing and expanding collaboration between regions and cities of Armenia and states and cities of the USA.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Richard Verma delved into the development of Armenian-American relations in strengthening Armenia’s resilience. They discussed the successful implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing democracy and the rule of law in Armenia, with appreciation for US support in this regard.

Regarding regional security issues, Minister Mirzoyan briefed Verma on efforts to normalize relations with Azerbaijan, including discussions on a peace treaty. They also discussed economic and transport connectivity issues, highlighting opportunities under Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" project, which the Government of Armenia developed.
