Armenia and Kazakhstan discuss increasing cooperation

On April 17, Gnel Sanosyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia, met with Bolat Imanbaev, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Yerevan.

The head of the Armenian department stressed the need to deepen the existing cooperation between the two countries. Minister Sanosyan drew the interlocutor's attention to the fact that Yerevan and Astana have great unrealized potential in many areas, and active work must be carried out in this direction.

Ambassador Imanbaev, in turn, stressed the need to deepen Armenian-Kazakh cooperation in various fields.

During the meeting, issues related to bilateral cooperation in energy, transport, and aviation were discussed. Issues related to the agenda of the 9th meeting of the Armenian-Kazakh intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, scheduled for April 27-28, were also considered. Both sides stressed the need to expand interregional cooperation.

Trade turnover doubled between Armenia and US

According to the report "On the progress and results of the implementation of the program of the Armenian government (2021-2026) in 2022", the trade turnover between Armenia and the United States amounted to about $465 million, which is 2.2 times more than the previous year.

"In 2021, this figure was $207 million," the report added. At the same time, the trade turnover between Armenia and the EU countries, compared to the previous year, increased by 43.8%, reaching a record high of almost 2 billion euros. Exports from Armenia to European countries in annual terms increased by 17.8%. The trade turnover between Armenia and Iran amounted to about $711 million, an increase of 42%. The volume of mutual trade with Georgia at the end of 2022 amounted to $879 million, demonstrating a two-fold increase (in 2021 — $422 million). The trade turnover between Armenia and China amounted to about $1.8 billion, against $1.3 billion in the previous year.

According to official statistics, the volume of foreign trade turnover in Armenia in January-December 2022 reached $14.1 billion, 68.8% higher than in 2021. Compared to the same period in 2021, exports from Armenia increased by 77.7%, amounting to $5.4 billion, and imports amounted to $8.8 billion, recording an increase of 63.5% year-on-year.
