Armenia Intensifies Foreign Trade with US, UAE, EU

On September 6, the Statistical Committee of Armenia reported that Armenia's foreign trade volume increased by 62.6% in January-July 2023 compared to the same period of 2022 and amounted to $10 billion 377 million 604 thousand.

At the same time, in July 2023, this indicator amounted to $1 billion 457 million, increasing by 18.1% compared to the same month of 2022 and decreasing by 2.4% compared to June 2023. Armenia's foreign trade turnover with CIS countries and post-Soviet republics for seven months of this year amounted to $3 billion 877 million 366 thousand, increasing by 68.3% in annual terms.

Armenia's largest foreign trade partners in this direction are Russia (the volume of trade turnover for January-July 2023 amounted to $3 billion 631 million 422 thousand, an increase of 71.3% compared to seven months of 2022), Belarus ($104 million 876 thousand, +24.9%) and Ukraine ($54 million 149 thousand, +22.5%).

The volume of Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EU countries for the reporting period 2023 amounted to $1 billion 643 million 791 thousand, with an increase of 40.9%. The top five largest trade partners of the republic among European countries are Germany ($393 mln 948 thousand, 67.9% growth), Italy ($241 mln 489 thousand, +41.3%), the Netherlands ($227 mln 346 thousand, +41.3%), Poland ($118 mln 410 thousand, 2.8 times growth) and France ($91 mln 405 thousand, +64.3%).

Among other countries in terms of trade turnover with Armenia in January-July 2023 are China ($1 billion 185 million 147 thousand, 43.1% growth), United Arab Emirates ($545 million 903 thousand, 2.9 times growth), US ($450 million 246 thousand, growth by 2.4 times), Iran ($396 mln 796 thousand, +8.3%), Japan ($252 mln 953 thousand, growth by four times), Georgia ($153 mln 130 thousand, decline by 17.6%), Republic of Korea ($111 mln 160 thousand, growth by 2.8 times) and Iraq ($108 mln 695 thousand, decline by 15.9%).
