Armenia-Iran Relations Bolstered by High-Level Diplomatic Visit

On January 29, Ararat Mirzoyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and Kamal Kharrazi, the Foreign Policy Advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader and Head of Iran Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, took place at the Press Office of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, reported.

The interlocutors discussed various issues of the agenda of the Armenian-Iranian multisectoral cooperation, noting the high level of political dialogue between the two countries and the active dynamics of the development of bilateral relations. To this end, the importance of close cooperation and the implementation of joint projects between the two countries in the energy, infrastructure, economy, and other fields to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples and stability in the region was emphasized.

During the meeting, issues related to security and stability in the South Caucasus were touched upon. Minister Mirzoyan thoroughly presented Armenia's approaches, emphasizing the need for unconditional respect for the territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, including as a guarantee for ensuring lasting peace in the region.

In the context of unblocking the regional infrastructure, Ararat Mirzoyan highly appreciated Iran's positive position on the "Crossroads of Peace" program developed by the Government of Armenia and its key principles.

Meeting with Nikol Pashinyan

On the same day, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Kamal Kharrazi, the Press Office of the Armenian Prime Minister reported.

Nikol Pashinyan noted that they agreed with the President of Iran to take consistent steps toward continuously increasing the volume of trade turnover. 

The interlocutors discussed various issues related to the Armenia-Iran cooperation agenda, which related to political and economic relations, cooperation in energy, infrastructure, and other fields, and implementation of joint projects.

The sides exchanged ideas on issues related to security and stability in the South Caucasus. The Prime Minister emphasized the key approaches of Armenia on this issue.
