Armenia-Iran Relations Strengthened Through High-Level Security Talks

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan welcomed a delegation led by Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, marking the first high-ranking foreign visit to Armenia in 2025.

As reported by the PM press office, Pashinyan highlighted the symbolic nature of the visit, emphasizing the deep and natural interests binding Armenia and Iran. He reiterated Armenia’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in diverse sectors.

Ahmadian conveyed greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and noted the strong historical ties between the two nations as a foundation for ongoing and strengthened cooperation.

Discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in technology, industry, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and road construction. The leaders underscored the importance of Iran’s role in constructing Armenia’s North-South Highway, which is expected to boost trade and cargo transportation between the two countries.

The parties also discussed Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” project, aimed at unblocking regional transport routes. Ahmadian expressed Iran’s support for the project and its principles, signaling shared priorities in fostering regional stability and connectivity.
