On December 11, Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan took part in a meeting within the EU Council of Foreign Ministers framework following an invitation from the EU. The meeting included the participation of Josep Borrell, Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Oliver Varhelyi, the EU Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner, and foreign affairs heads from all EU member states.

Ararat Mirzoyan delivered a presentation during the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting, providing an overview of the ongoing Armenia-EU partnership programs, discussing measures to further strengthen these ties, and outlining Armenia’s vision for establishing lasting stability and peace in the region, as reported by the FM in a press release.

Mirzoyan provided an overview of the democratic reforms in Armenia and discussed key aspects of the Armenia-EU political and security dialogue, including the EUMA. He highlighted the significance of a definitive decision on launching a visa liberalization dialogue to enhance Armenia’s proximity to the EU and foster people-to-people contacts. Additionally, he addressed the ambitious Armenia-EU agenda in the economy and other sectors, emphasizing regional inclusiveness and Armenia's potential participation in the Black Sea energy cable.

Armenian FM also introduced the Crossroads of Peace project and outlined its components, highlighting its significance for the South Caucasus and the broader region.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan met in Brussels with Hadja Lahbib, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, and Foreign Trade, and the Federal Cultural Institutions of Belgium. Lahbib informed about this on X.

“Good to meet with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the sidelines of the FAC [i.e., Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union]. We reaffirmed the EU’s strong political support for Armenia and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation, fostering sustained peace in the region,” the Belgian Foreign Minister wrote.
